Numerical investigation on latent thermal energy storage in shell and corrugated internal tube with PCM and metal foam

چکیده

A numerical investigation on Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage System (LHTESS) based an aluminum foam totally filled with phase change material (PCM) is accomplished. The PCM used a pure paraffin wax melting over range of temperature and high latent heat fusion. LHTESS geometry under vertical shell tube. corrugated internal surface the hollow cylinder assumed at constant above temperature. other external surfaces are adiabatic. process modelled enthalpy-porosity theory, while metal considered as porous media obeying to Darcy-Forchheimer law. Local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) model analyze transfer in foam. governing equations solved employing Ansys-Fluent code. simulations results, reported function time, concerning charging phase, compared terms average energy storage rate. effect analyzed respect wavelength wave amplitude corrugation.
